About D’Rae Modrall
D’Rae Modrall, originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has been teaching for 10 years, including experience in Tennessee, Mississippi, Japan, and now Nevada. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education (2013) and M.S. in Education Literacy (2021) from the University of Tennessee at Martin and currently teaches fourth grade ELA, Writing, and Social Studies at Somerset Academy Losee, where she also serves as team lead, a member of the writing committee, and sponsor of the National Elementary Honor Society. Guided by values of equity, rigor, and student empowerment, she uses data-driven instruction to help all learners grow while fostering a culture of leadership and belonging. Outside the classroom, she enjoys time with her Air Force veteran husband, their three children, and the family dog. Inspired by the great teachers who shaped her life and by the teacher she envisions for her own children, she became an educator to provide that same encouragement and opportunity. It’s the new opportunities each day brings for her students that motivate her to get up every morning.
